Two large Japanese ceramic vases, with markings in the base below with hieroglyphics. Handles in the form of stylized animals.
One of the characters is playing the flute. Wisteria are represented on the backs of the vases, a motif that inspired European Art Nouveau art.
Use of embossed gold and enamel colors.
Hand painted.
