Trained at the School of Fine Arts in Paris and Decorative Arts, André Margat then specialized in animal art alongside François Pompon and Paul Jouve. His works, often on paper, are very close to Jouve's style, but many painted pieces move away in search of Japanese facets. Animals of course, but also landscapes and mythological scenes join the painter's body of work.
This very tight watercolor on Saint Front Cathedral shows us a point of view rarely represented. Additional originality, the representation of cars in the foreground, allowing to locate in time, visually this large sheet.
