Pierre Vidal (1849-1929) Watercolor Drawing Lavis Illustration By Paul Margueritte (1860-1918)

Rare original watercolor drawing, ink wash and grease pencil, illustration of the famous 1894 novel "La tormente" by Paul Margueritte (1860-1918). Monogrammed lower right "PV" for Pierre Vidal. Drawing reproduced on page 146 of the book with the caption "He walked towards the window with the desire to rush". Publisher Fayard 1909. We see a man from behind looking in the direction of the Arc de Triomphe from the window of a building on Avenue Foch or the Champs-Elysées in Paris. The drawing is framed by a beautiful 19th century giltwood baguette with rais-de-coeur. The artist appears at Bénézit. Dimensions: 21 cm x 16 cm sheet at sight 26.5 cm x 21.2 cm frame The drawing is in good condition. The frame is in its own juice.
