a large city in central Iran. During the Persian Renaissance, Kashan was the center of the production of rugs of legendary splendor.
Finely woven rugs, very rich in composition, were knotted by the royal factory of Shah Abbas.
They have become the centerpieces of museums and private collections.
The craft industry stopped in Kashan between the invasion of the Afghans (1722) and the end of the 19th century.
The relaunch of the production of rugs started with rugs which are distinguished by the superior quality of the wool giving an extremely velvety appearance. These copies are called Kashan Motashemi, named after the most famous master weaver of the late 19th century.
The decorations are varied and offer meticulous craftsmanship: hunting scenes, figures with figures inspired by Persian mythology, birds in a plant setting, trees of life.
Thanks to the superior quality of wool, their tight knotting, the beauty of their natural colors and designs, the Kashans took their place among the best Persian rugs.
This rug has been professionally cleaned and environmentally friendly.
