Viola d'amore by Charles Jean Baptiste COLLIN MEZIN aka Charley (1910-1987) made in Mirecourt (France) in 1934, especially for Mr. Emile Moëbs, solo viola of the Opera of Algiers and violin teacher.
Two-piece table of spruce of narrow grain widening at the edges, double stringing, flame-shaped soundholes.
Ebony tailpiece and asymmetrical fingerboard.
One piece back of mapleof large curl. Maple ribs and neck ending with a sculpted head of a blindfolded woman.
Rosewood pegs, seven rubbed strings, seven sympathetic strings.
Orange-brown varnish on a gold background.
