Joseph LEVIN (1894-1979) Portrait of a man with a red cap. Oil / canvas 55 x 46 cm Expressionist period of the artist circa 1940. Painter of Russian origin, LEVIN was born in Saint Petersburg in 1894. He traveled to the United States, to China where he learned calligraphy, in France from 1926 to 1935. From 1935, he spent a long time in New York where he had a workshop in Greenwich Village. After international exhibitions in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Washington, New York and Rome he died in France in 1979. Levin was also a writer and poet.
