Urbain Bourgeois, 1842-1911, is a painter, engraver and lithographer. Urbain Bourgeois is a student of Flandrin and Alexandre Cabanel at the Beaux Arts in Paris. He won the Second Grand Prix de Rome in 1863, with his painting: "Joseph recognized by his brothers".
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1865 and received many public commissions, in particular, the staircase of honor of the town hall of the 12th arrondissement of Paris with: La Liberté victorieuse submits to the Law; also for the village hall of the town hall of the 6th century: Allegories of Liberty.
