CIUCURENCU Alexandru (1903-1977) "Presumed portrait of Theodor Pallady" Romania; (presupusul portret al lui Theodor Pallady); charcoal and pastel, monogrammed lower right, Size: 42 x 30 cm Alexandre Ciucurencu marks a new step in the evolution of the artistic vision of the Romanian school. The artist studied in Paris, took advantage of the multiple influences of this time. He studied in the studio of André Lhote from whom he retained the science of an expressive simplification of plans and the design of a rigorous plastic construction. The chromatic ranges are articulated on a very concise drawing. Ciucurencu's paintings reveal his latent poetry. All it takes is a wall, a section of the roof, a tree covered with leaves to evoke a moment of intense tranquility. He is a refined artist of the Romanian avant-garde of the twentieth century.
