Albert Thibule Marie Furcy de Lavault (1847-1915)
French painter born on 4 March 1847 in Saint-Genis-de-Saintonge and died on 13 February 1915 in Clérac.
Harbour scenes, Still Life, Flowers and Fruit.
He studied drawing at the Collège de Saintes and began painting in buildings. At the age of 17, suffering from saturnism, he turned to easel painting initiated by Savarin, a painter from Bordeaux. Furcy de Lavault began his career as a portrait painter. He later specialized as a flower painter. Supported in his candidacy by local supporters, Furcy de Lavault was appointed curator of the Musée de La Rochelle on 14 March 1882.
He received an honorable mention at the 1888 Salon.
In April 1912, he give up his public occupations and preferred to leave La Rochelle and settle near his son, Gaston, who lived at the Château de Callières in Clérac.
