Handmade shadow gap frame with gilding
Born March 26, 1926 in Luzarclus.
Nicole Fourcroy-Schneider cultivated two styles of painting.
The painter with Ukrainian roots first worked figuratively, like her husband Christian Schneider, who died in 1997. She opted for the naïve style, as if her origins practically dictated this choice to her. The choice of the naive style gave Nicole Fourcray the opportunity to decide on a psyeudomym, which is her abbreviation "Puce" (flea). This reflects the playful character of the artist, who appreciates rare scenes of animals, field work, leisure and children's games. The paintings are small, full of vibrant and nuanced colors, almost like an austere printing technique. The colors are mostly very clear, as if "Flea's" feelings are on the level of childhood recovered.
