"Canivet: Christ On The Cross"
Delicate canivet with Christ on the cross late 18th century early 19th century. Fine work of paper cutting in polylobé medallion imitating lace enhanced in colors of bouquets of pink and yellow flowers. In the center, Christ on the cross painted in gouache, eyes closed, head leaning on his right shoulder, legs crossed. Upper phylactery in which is written: INRI. Phylactery at the bottom of the cross in which is written in ink: Confumatum. Old paper folds mainly in the lower right corner, fortunately these folds do not appear in the decor. This beautiful work of faith and patience remains under glass in a gilded wooden baguette frame (scattered wear to the gilding) from the 19th century. Dimensions at sight: 15 cm X 19 cm. Back closed by cardboard, old brass suspension ring. Note: remarkable cutting work reminiscent of needlework on beautiful Alençon lace. Price nonnegotiable. Delivery: 10 € for metropolitan France.
