"Pair Of Louis XV Cabriolet Armchairs With Flat Backrest By J.delaunay"
Superb and elegant pair of Louis XV armchairs with flat backs stamped by Jean Baptiste DALAUNAIS who died in 1778 and received laître in 1764. They rest on a curved and molded base connected in a belt from molded fretwork crosspieces and carved with fleureaux and ribbon motifs. The whiplash armrests are also molded and decorated with a volute at the bottom and at the end of the armrest. The flat scalloped and molded backrest, rounded on the top is decorated with a sculpture representing a bouquet of flowers and ribbon. The entire seat is completely rechampi in cream and gold tones. They are stamped J. DELAUNAY (cabinetmaker installed rue st Martin in Paris specializing in seats and received master in 1764) under the rear crosspieces. Work of high quality and in very good condition, solid and elegant.
