A fine example of the elegant workmanship of the Gashghaï tribes. While being traditional, this fine kilim combines timeless patterns and bold colors. Worked borders ('ram's horns' and 'running water') frame the field of the kilim composed of seven bands inserting zoomorphs represented in hexagons.
The Gashghaï confederation includes different tribes. Some examples: the Bozorg kashkulis (the big ones), the Kuchek kashkulis (the little ones), the Shishbolukis (six districts), the Amalehs or Yalamehs (workers, servants of the Khan).
