"Mahogany Cabinet, Louis XVI Style, Napoleon III Period - Nineteenth"
Solid and veneered mahogany cabinet, generously lined with brass, Louis XVI style. Although all in one piece, we will choose to describe it in two stages. The upper part, narrower, opens in its center by a door forming a Tabernacle, equipped with a keyhole, a lock in working order, and its key. Its facade consists of a projecting panel, underlined by a quarter-round brass rod. It is cut with Greek corners, leaving room in its angles for four Rosettes. This door also benefits from a brass decoration representing birds drinking from a fountain. She discovers two compartments formed by the presence of a fixed shelf. On either side, this piece of furniture offers twice two niches with brass columns, as well as two small drawers with chiseled pull buttons. The top of this first part is crowned with a Gallery in Balusters on three of its sides. It is also lined with a brass frieze, fashioned into curtains held up by tassels. The lower element opens with three drawers, the middle one being wider than the other two, and all of them being provided with pull pendants. This belt is supported at the front by four turned Columns, with Grooves lined with brass, and crowned with Bronze Capitals. The low shelf, cut back on the front, rests on four molded legs at the front and two straight legs at the back. It should be noted that each of the tops of this piece of furniture has its perimeter embellished with a half-round brass strip, and each drawer front has a frame inlaid with the same alloy. The Quality of the wood and the Fittings of this Elegant Cabinet with interesting dimensions deserves to be underlined.
