Commode In Marquetry, Transition Style Louis XV / Louis XVI - Late Nineteenth

Sumptuous chest of drawers of Parisian manufacture featuring an inlaid decoration, provided with a magnificent Aleppo marble composed of colored fragments in rich shades. This marble with projections follows the movements of the chest of drawers and benefits from a thin groove on its periphery. The front, whose central part is also projecting, has three drawers benefiting from bronze pull rings surmounted by Louis XVI knots. The upper drawer is decorated with a marquetry of geometric patterns composed of kingwood and rosewood. The lower drawers are fitted with rosewood marquetry squares and light wood flowers framed with ebony and lemon tree fillets, on a mahogany background. The central part of these two drawers presents a large basket filled with apples, pears and grapes, surrounded by daffodils and roses whose foliage is made of wood tinted in water green color. The basket is held in suspension with a link whose end has a Louis XVI knot. In the lower part, the facade is enriched with an important horizontal motif representing delicately sculpted gilt bronze foliage. At the corners, this refined chest of drawers has two feet embellished with a sticker in relief followed by a fall and ending in a clog. The set is in finely chiseled gilt bronze. The sides of this transitional style piece of furniture are convex in shape and benefit from marquetry identical to that of the front as well as rear legs ending in a small shoe. This elegant chest of drawers, whose varnished finish with a mirror effect, will invite itself into an interior where the beauty of its marquetry will be noticed.
