"Diptych Of 56 Historico-heraldic Gouaches, 19th Century Connoisseur"
Remarkable pair of high vertical panels, framed from rosewood and under glass, each presenting one composition of 32 small gouaches, in a grid of gilded paper, representing a coat of arms, a standing character, inspiration is obviously 16th century, well painted, there are coats of arms older than others, a whole panel, presenting the coats of arms of States, (from Brabant to Sicily) which were possessions of Maximilian I Emperor of the Holy Empire circa 1519, date of his death.... Above the gouaches, portico and perystile, below, bases bearing Latin and Gothic inscriptions.
Beautiful workmanship, attractive and decorative, one of a kind, you will agree.
Dimensions: each panel: 69cm x 20cm.
Condition: good condition, recently checked by a framer, some gouaches have faded colors, traces of humidity, one has gaps, all this hardly visible... Sorry, No airmail export at all:
too breakable and expensive
