Polychrome basketry
H. 21 cm ; Diam. 10 cm
Called "agaseki" or "ibeseke", this covered basket is made of entirely woven plant fibers. The lid is conical and forms a handle, the body is decorated with a characteristic zigzag pattern called "umurenzi".
Very beautiful finesse in the weaving.
These baskets had the particularity of being made by the women of the Tutsi aristocracy.
