"The Madonna Of Divine Love 136 X 106.5 Cm"
ANONYMOUS French, 18th century After RAPHAËL The Madonna of Divine Love Canvas, 136 x 106.5 cm Provenance: - Belgian private collection until the 1970s - Oise private collection until October 2019, previously acquired from an antique dealer in the 1970s/80s. Raphael's mythical work or divine love connects the characters of the composition; in the center of the canvas is the child Jesus. Seated on the lap of the Virgin, he turns to Saint John the Baptist and raises his arm in a sign of blessing, an arm that is supported with extreme delicacy by the hand of Saint Elizabeth. Further on, the silhouette of Saint Joseph standing out against the blue sky appears under a loggia. Raphael's original composition was kept at Palazzo Farnese until the 18th century, before entering the collections of the Capodimonte Museum in Naples.
