"Pair Of Armchairs A La Reine Louis XVI, Napoleon III Period - Mid-19th Century"
Elegant armchairs called "Marquise" in gilded wood, Louis XVI style, Napoleon III period, fitted with a large traditional seat, straps, springs and horsehair. This very comfortable seat has a quilted finish on a fabric with a pale yellow background trimmed with gold patterns, reminiscent of gold leaf woodwork. The padded backrest is also covered with the same fabric on the front and at the back of the backrest. This slightly curved one is crowned in the center with a knotted wreath of flowers and surrounded by foliage. On each side, a beautifully gadrooned pommel overlooks three foliage motifs. Two recessed armrests joining the eastern backrest are finely carved with pearls and acanthus leaves. The low structure is made up of a slightly curved front crosspiece and a frame around its perimeter. The feet are turned, tapered and fluted. The front feet are gadrooned on top. These rare and high quality "Marquise" Louis XVI style armchairs look great in a refined interior.
