"Rio Rosewood Travel Writing Case - Late 19th Century"
Beautiful Rio rosewood veneer writing desk with a rosewood frame on its top and front enhanced by a lemon tree fillet. A cut brass plate is inlaid on the top and also on the front serving as a keyhole. This is in perfect working order. Once opened, the box unfolds forming a sloping writing desk covered with royal blue leather. This is decorated with a central fleur-de-lis motif and large golden vignettes around its edge. Equipped with tabs at the top and bottom, these allow the opening of two storage compartments. The lower one closes with two small brass pushers and has ropes attached by small nails to store letters or papers. The upper part of this box has small rectangular compartments allowing the transport of pencils and various objects. With its precious woods and quality workmanship, this refined travel writing desk in perfect condition will suit lovers of unique and elegant objects.
