Object description :

"Pendulum With Columns Marble Red Griotte Bronze Cachard Directory Eighteenth"
Pendulum with columns in cherry red marble, finely chiseled gilt bronze ornaments and columns, decorated with two cherubs playing the trumpet around the enamelled dial with Roman numerals (signed by the watchmaker Cachard* Succ de Ch. Le Roy Paris), below a large openwork drapery, sun-shaped pendulum, from the Directoire period at the end of the 18th century. This clock is in good condition and is of remarkable quality. The wire movement works (has been revised), we have its balance wheel (maybe not original, has been modified to go with a wire movement), but not the key. *During the revolutionary period, Gaspard Cachard (or Cochard) was the (fictional) successor of Charles Leroy, founder of the Leroy house established in 1785 at the Palais Royal. Cachard worked for A. L Breguet. A note: small chip in an angle of the marble at the top, the rear column on the right side moves a little (game in the assembly) but cannot be seen once placed and wedged, some micro-scratches on the dial, micro-chips on the marble, traces of dirt on the bronze, slight wear to the gilding in places, take a good look at the photos.
