"Commode Louis XVI, End Of The Eighteenth Century."
This chest of drawers from the end of the Louis XVI period is in mahogany and mahogany veneer on an oak core, it opens on the front with five drawers in three rows, three small ones on the first row then two large ones. It is topped with a marble top which is surrounded by an openwork brass gallery. The drawer fronts are framed with a small flat mahogany strip and a brass quarter round. The two-panel sides are also surrounded by a small flat strip. It rests on four turned feet. In good condition, this chest of drawers has only undergone very minor restorations, a marble corner had to be repaired and one or two small parts were made. The keyholes, the pull handles and the gallery are original. This chest of drawers has benefited from a waxed filling which gives the wood a very pleasant satin finish. 18th century period. Tray dimensions 129 cm x 59 cm, height 89 cm.
