Serge Mansau (1930-2019) was both a recognized sculptor and the creator of many of the most famous perfume bottles of the 20th century. Sculptor, draftsman, scenographer too, he could work glass, melt metals, incise wood, create a dialogue between the materials that will find their place in his creative process. His sculptures are exceptional and specific to his universe, such as the “fishers of water”, the “Zen gardens”, the “leaf men” or even its “carbobucs”. He revisited Baccarat with the “mutation glasses”. It takes us into an imaginary universe permanently. Serge Mansau was an artist on the fringes of the art world whose work of sculpture, hidden from view, leaves us perplexed.
