"Painting 'country Village' Signed Vallet - Nineteenth"
Painting on canvas signed Jean Emile Vallet (1834-1899) representing a landscaped rural scene. The artist, who exhibited at the Salon between 1857 and 1880, illustrates here a hamlet made up of a church surrounded by small houses. Three women dressed in identical outfits are painted and complete this scene from the old days. Trees and woodwork indicate an early fall season. This unique work bears the artist's signature at the bottom left. Surrounding the canvas, a large frame in perfect condition, scalloped, in wood gilded with gold leaf fits perfectly with this pastoral scene. Rich in ornamentation, it presents stylized moldings and sculptures forming arabesques. Vallet signs a unique work, a perfect testimony to the past.
