"Madonna and Child" Plate (18 cm by 11 cm) in silver? signed L. Madrassi. Monogram GOLD Located in a showcase frame on foot with beveled glass sheathed in gilded leather with small iron. The interior is covered with green velvet with a fleur-de-lis pattern. Madrassi began his artistic studies in Rome before studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where his teacher was Pierre-Jules Cavelier. He then joined the Carrier-Belleuse studio. Between 1876 and 1880 Madrassi was a practitioner of Gustave Doré, this collaboration can explain the analogies between the works of Carrier-Belleuse and Doré2. He exhibited at the Salon of the Society of French Artists in Paris from 1879. He obtained honorable mentions on several occasions (1881, 1882, 1883 and 1885) as well as a third class medal in 1896. He obtained nationality French and became a member of the Society of French Artists in 1890. He also exhibited at the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts in 1896.
