"Large Trumeau Mirror, Louis XVI Style - 2nd Half Of The Nineteenth"
Large trumeau mirror on a cream-coloured wooden background composed of a mercury glass topped with a painting on canvas, in the Louis XVI style. In the lower part, a mirror in perfect condition has a carved wooden frame gilded with gold leaf, combining wrapped friezes and geometric patterns. At the four corners, a square is surmounted by a rosette in relief. At the top a sculpture in the shape of a coat of arms is embellished with leaves and flowers. In the upper part, a painting on canvas in delicate colors represents a bucolic scene where two young teenagers dressed in spring outfits stand out. Sitting near a grove, an elegantly dressed boy plays the bagpipes while watching his partner dance. The smiling young girl wears a rose in her hair and holds her dress while performing small dance steps. This painting is framed by a molding carved and gilded with fine gold, finer than the lower part. This one presents a garland of pearls and a beribboned frieze. This Greek corner frame is topped with two cabochons at the top. Graceful and harmonious, this large overmantel mirror will delight lovers of refined works.
