"Small Secretaire In Precious Wood, Louis XVI Period - XVIIIth"
Rare Secretaire in Amaranth and Rosewood dating from the 18th century. Refined, this marquetry piece of furniture is topped with a marble from the Pyrenees combining shades of gray and white. With a large thickness, this marble has a groove around it and cut sides at the front. This small piece of furniture has a large drawer in the upper part, a flap and two low doors. These openings all have a mitred amaranth frame and are decorated on the inside with rosewood with a butterfly wing crimp. Nets of light and tinted wood, formed of Greek angles, underline its contours. The canted sides and blanks also benefit from precious wood marquetry panels. They are embellished with bronze medallions delicately chiseled in the upper and lower part. We also find a Bronze decoration on the lower crosspiece and original Bronze entrances accompanied by their added key. All in perfect working order. Supported by two original compasses, the flap of this secretary is lined with red lambskin, with golden vignettes at the corners and in the central part. The interior is sober as in the time of Louis XVI. It features a shelf, two lockers and four drawers in amaranth and rosewood, complete with the original brass pull knob. The lower part of this piece of furniture is made up of two doors revealing a substantial storage space with a large shelf. Graceful and elegant, this 18th century secretaire with ideal dimensions will delight you with the finesse of its ornamentation.
