Spontaneous and modern, this work by the Marseille painter Alfred Lombard. The work, in excellent condition, is made in oil on a wooden panel, it is offered in a modern black frame, American box type which measures 31.5 cm by 47.5 cm and 24.5 cm by 40.5 without the frame. On the back, several inventory labels of the artist's family and exhibition. The work is signed lower right middle. After exhibiting his works at the Paris Salon of 1910, he organized with Pierre Girieud the Salon de Mai de Marseille in 1912 and 1913 in their common studio at No. 12 quai de Rive-Neuve in the Old Port of Marseille. In particular, he worked with the architect Pierre Patout from 1925 on the layout and design of the interior decorations of the large liners of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique and in particular the Ile de France and Atlantique liners. This collaboration will reach its peak in 1935 with the liner Normandie, an undisputed and unequaled masterpiece of French Art Deco of the 1930s.
