"Somno In Burl Mahogany Veneer, Empire Period - 1804"
Exceptional Somno in Burl Mahogany Veneer dating from the First Empire, topped with a black and beige granite marble top, in the shape known as "bowl". Of a rare design by its quality of wood and workmanship, this piece of furniture has a belt slightly offset upwards embellished with a base in solid Mahogany cane: a drawer with its small brass pull button comes to dress this belt, its delicate dovetail assembly and its sides give it a remarkable finesse. It opens through a door with its oval handle, joined in the center for the ramage veneer development, onto an interior in red tones typical of 18th century furniture consisting of a shelf. On each side of this opening is placed a solid mahogany rod, thus delimiting the door with the rest of the cabinet. This piece of furniture rests on a plinth made up of a fairly high vertical wooden plinth. The Antiquarian's commentary: “Exceptional Somno for its elegance in height, its diameter, for its quality of material and workmanship, as well as for its perfect condition for its time”.
