"Important Bronze "
Large bronze with brown patina signed Etienne Henri DUMAIGE (1830-1888), renowned French sculptor who exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1863 to 1886. The artist, a pupil of J. Feuchère, received honors and medals for his exceptional works . This sculpture depicts two young women elegantly dressed in vaporous antique dresses. Wearing ribbons and flowers holding back their wavy hair, they seem to be walking slowly, bare feet, their drapery sliding over their feminine curves. One of the young women tilts her head back gracefully while the other holds her wrist and a garland of flowers falling from her hair. The two companions look at each other gently. This bronze is remarkably realistic, in particular thanks to the quality of its details. In this ancient register, the artist has been able to transmit to us both the sensuality and the beauty of the female body.
