This large bust portrait of King Soleil at the age of 63, and a period revival of a portrait by the painter Hyacinthe Rigaud.
Louis XIV is represented here by three quarters, with his voluminous wig. He is clothed with royal armor in the flower of Lys, he wears the blue cord of the order of the Holy Spirit, and wears around his neck his jabot in lace.
The bust portraits of the monarch were used as diplomatic gifts, but were also commissioned by the nobility to prove their admiration and devotion to the Sun King.
Of a very beautiful format, the portrait is in good condition, it is on its original canvas. The chassi and the frame are posterior (nineteenth) to the painting.
I sell this portrait as I discovered it, I leave the choice to the buyer to carry out restorations.
