Object description :

"Georgian Mass Chalice , Sterling Silver, Brussels 1814-1831, By Keyser Orfèvre"
Sumptuous mass chalice in solid silver dating from the period 1814-1831. Although dating from the nineteenth century, this work of art is still entirely made in the tradition of the eighteenth century and the Louis XVI style. Thanks to its rather heavy and solid execution (685 grams), it has come down to our era in absolutely perfect condition. With its 27.5 cm it is quite high. The cup is decorated with vegetal motifs representing wheat and bunches of grapes surrounding three different medallions which are decorated respectively with the Paschal Lamb, the Ark of the Covenant and the Table of Showbreads. The foot and the knot are decorated with several edges of foliage and fine gadroons.
