Object description :

"Mystery But Prestigious Sewing Box, 17th Century, With Lily Of France"
Beautiful sewing box of precious wood inlaid, from the Louis XIV period, whose lid at the time received a pincushion. This box, very thick, develops 8 sides of marquetry in amaranth, boxwood and rosewood. Inside is  rosewood, the cover lid is adorned with a finial at each corner.
Locksmithing is extraordinary: each hinge is a piece of goldsmithery engraved on steel with a historical reading: Head of Minerva, 3 fleur-de-lys, Mascaron of a lion-man, two back-to-back snakes... the buttons opening are also engraved with fleur-de-lys... note that the opening push button... can be pulled out.
We are attaching an 18th century pincushion, gold and silver embroidered  on silk, with the monogram (M. A) which breathes well with it.
Work from the 17th century of high quality, and probably of "great origine"
Dimensions: 18cm x 12cm x 9.5cm.
Condition is not perfect: a corner underwent a careless repair, otherwise, correct condition, with wear.
Look at our photos, don't buy eyes closed. Original cushion missing.
