Monsiau executed at least two versions of this painting, one exhibited at the Salon of 1802 and the other kept in Paris, at the library of the Comédie Française. Our engraving conforms to the version exhibited at the Salon. The painting kept in the library museum of the Comédie Française, presenting some variations such as the absence of the character between Lully, Pierre and Thomas Corneille lower left.
