Raymond Besse, born December 26, 1899 in Niort in the Deux-Sèvres, died March 5, 1969 in Candé-sur-Beuvron in the Loir-et-Cher), is a French painter. Biography Raymond Besse arrived in Paris in 1916. He participated for the first time in the Salon des Indépendants in 1923. He then participated in many other salons, including the Salon d'Automne. He has many times represented the northern suburbs of Paris, Saint-Ouen, Montmartre and Clichy because he liked to paint the area and his paintings are testimonies of life in working-class neighborhoods during the first half of the century. Raymond Besse has also produced numerous works on the themes of Normandy and the Loire Valley. It was in the Loir-et-Cher that he spent his last years and died in 1969.
