"Sloping Desk In Mahogany And Rosewood, Regency Period - Louis XV - XVIIIth"
Inlaid Slope Desk, in Mahogany, Amaranth and Rosewood for the most part, from the Regency / Louis XV period. It is by definition composed of an inclined plane, which here sees its turbulent and discreetly molded edges. This flap, once unfolded, forms a work surface covered with contemporary brown leather, embellished with a central vignette, corner finials, golden friezes and a hard bottom. The interior, in solid Walnut, offers a multitude of niches, hatches, and drawers of various sizes. The latter, arranged in a gradient for some, all have facades with scalloped cutouts. Below, this piece of furniture offers two drawers, separated by a fixed part pretending to be a third. It should be noted that the three main openings of this Office are locked and are provided with original keyholes accompanied by their current keys. The top, the flap and the modestly curved sides of this piece of furniture are embellished with Marquetry in Butterfly Wings, underlined by Amaranth surrounds. Around the edges, the fronts of the drawers feature similar decorations. The whole rests on four arched legs, ending in Bronze Sabots. This Bureau de Pente and its three centuries of history can boast of a perfect state of conservation and thank a beautiful restoration work. Moreover, with its four carved faces, this piece of furniture can be installed against a wall or in the middle of a room.
