Oil on canvas, "View of a room" by Ossip Lubitch (1896 - 1990) Ossip Lubitch is a painter from the School of Paris who participated in the great period of artistic Montparnasse between the two wars. From his childhood, he developed a real passion for art. He entered the School of Fine Arts and for four years from 1915 to 1919, he learned not only classical historical Russian painting but also that of the "Peredvizhniki" or "Wanderers", influenced by the Barbizon School and the Impressionists. . He is also interested in Western painting, the Italian Renaissance and Fauvism. After working and becoming a pioneer in film sets, he decided to devote himself solely to painting and moved to Paris. There he frequented the artists of Montparnasse. In 1935, he was exhibited at the Aktuaryus gallery in Zurich, at the Palais des Beaux-Arts "Les artistes de Paris 1925-1935", in London, in Paris. When the Second World War broke out, he did not declare himself as a Jew. But he was denounced and then interned in the Drancy camp.
