"Marble Clock And Bronze Bust Of Diane De Poitiers, After J. Goujon - 2nd Part X"
Small Black Marble Pendulum, resting on a molded projection base, presenting in the upper part a gilded bronze bust of Diane de Poitiers, by the Renaissance sculptor Jean Goujon (1510 - 1567). The original work comes from the fountain of the Château d'Anet, which is now on display in the Louvre Museum. The favorite of King Henry II is represented in profile, her hair raised and carefully styled in braids, held by a crown, in the fashion of ancient inspiration. The artist was able to brilliantly transcribe the delicacy of his features, and the nobility that emanates from them. Accompanied by its winding key, this clock has a dial with a black background nicely embellished with a golden surround and Roman numerals. Sober and uncluttered, this Clock will bring a touch of elegance to your decoration, with the refinement of its sculpture and the contrasting brilliance of its colours.
