"Greek Day Dress With Bust And Pouf In Sky Blue Taffeta - France Circa 1875"
Circa 1870/1875 France Day or promenade dress with a princess line, in two parts, bodice and skirt, worn on a bustle cage. Sky-blue taffeta embellished with cream starched gauze called tarlatan, finely pleated and crenellated in the Greek style. Boned bodice with long peplum buttoning in front with similar domed buttons. Long skirt with train adorned with the same frills. Volume of the bubbled skirt in pouf projected behind that can be raised by a system of brass rings and cotton drawstrings. Piece exhibited in "Falbalas, Portraits and Women's Fashion 1850 - 1930" Art Museum of the City of Toulon in 2017. Very good condition of color and conservation.
