"Commode After Guillaume Benneman"
Spectacular Commode with mahogany doors and mahogany veneer opening with two doors surmounted by two drawers, uprights with rudent fluted columns. Rich bronze trim decorated with ribbons, palmettes, mascarons and lions on the front and sides. Molded green marble top. Modern work in the style of Guillaume Benneman. ref: This very spectacular and imposing chest of drawers is largely inspired by STOCKEL's royal chest of drawers, transformed by BENNEMAN in 1786, delivered in the 1780s, for the cabinet of the Council at the castle of COMPIÈGNE, and now kept at the Palace of FONTAINEBLEAU. The accounts of the Garde-meuble attest that this chest of drawers was executed according to a drawing by LALONDE.
