Origin Of Italian origin, Félix-Henri Giacomotti was naturalized French in 1849 and studied at the drawing school in Besançon.
In 1854 he won the Prix de Rome in history painting for Abraham washing his feet with the Angels, and went to Rome for the Villa Medici. On his return, he exhibited at the Salon from 1859 to 1909. He obtained numerous commissions, including a ceiling for the Luxembourg museum, La Gloire de Rubens, now at the Bourges town hall. He was appointed director of the municipal school of fine arts and curator of the Besançon museum until his death. Félix-Henri Giacomotti practices history painting and religious painting. He also painted portraits and female nudes influenced by William Bouguereau and Alexandre Cabanel. He was named Knight of the Legion of Honor on August 15, 1867. Giacomotti is the author of the Rest of the Holy Family in the North transept of the Church of Notre-Dame-des-Champs in Paris. You can see Saint Joseph changing the baby Jesus. The paintings in Saint Martin de Quingey church painted by Giacomotti were inaugurated on May 8, 1892 by Monsieur Rigny, canon and parish priest of Saint-Pierre de Besançon.
A monographic exhibition was held in Étampes in 2005.
