Biography:
Louis Peyré is a figurative painter close to the movement of the new Paris school of the 1950s.
He was born in 1923 in Campagnan village in the Hérault near Montpellier and Sète.
From the age of nine, he was educated in Ardouane, in the Orb valley, with the Lazarist fathers.
At eighteen he entered the Novitiate at Prime Combe.
During the Second World War, he joined the French Army of Liberation and took part in the Alsace campaign.
It was then that he decided to break with his religious vocation. His passion for painting then becomes his choice of life.
From 1945 to 1947, his artistic training was at the Beaux Arts in Montpellier.
After his marriage in 1950, he moved to Paris.
He follows the courses of the city of Paris (Montparnasse school and school of the Place des Vosges) in drawing, painting, engraving and sculpture.
He also studied the live model at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière under the direction of the painter Yves Brayer .
During his long life, centered on his wife and children, he painted and drew daily, in Paris or in the south.
He died in 2012 in Sète, where he had been living for several years. He leaves an important and varied work that expresses the spirituality of everyday life and its beauty.
