Beautiful and large engraving from the end of the 18th or the beginning of the 19th century representing "L'accordée de Village" after the painting by Watteau and engraved by N de Larmessin Frame in stuccoed and gilded wood Good condition LARMESSIN Nicolas IV de , engraver, born in Paris in 1684, died in the same city in 1753. Ec Fr. Son and pupil of Nicolas de Larmessin Le Jeune. He was by far the most remarkable artist of his family and one of the best French engravers. It was chosen by Mr. CROZAT to reproduce part of his magnificent collection. he was the skilful translator of Watteau, Nicolas Vieughels, François Boucher, Galloche, but he is especially famous for his prints after Lancret. His name is intimately linked to that of this charming painter of gallant parties. According to Watteau, he engraved, the trip to Cythera, the village accord, the pastime.
