Large Coat Rack from the Art Nouveau period in cast iron composed of 7 coat hooks and a mirror, signed Alfred Corneau (1825-1886) Frères Charleville and bearing the number 15. The Corneau brothers, master ironworkers, created in 1846 a company of Foundry – Charleville Brothers – specializing in Ornamental Cast Iron, as well as that of the first domestic comfort objects. Copied throughout the world, the talented Alfred Corneau drew Creations combining Aesthetics and Know-how. This Umbrella Stand Locker Room, a reminder of a certain art of living, has a single hook at the top and six double hooks on its sides, perfect for hanging hats, jackets and coats. In the center, an oval Mirror surrounded by a Garland of pearls tilts at will. Embellished with floral ornaments, the elegantly shaped backsplash is surmounted by a basket of sculpted flowers. The lower part forms a large Umbrella Holder. The Arabesques mingle with the Leaves up to the oblong Base decorated with Flowers and equipped with a White Cast Iron Tray. This Quality Coat Rack by Alfred Corneau will dress an entrance or a vestibule in a Unique way.
