"Rare Small Lady Louis XV Desk In Blackened Wood - Napoleon III Period"
Rare small Louis XV style lady's desk in blackened pearwood. The top of the step as well as the one below are cut in an animated shape and bordered by a chiseled bronze gallery. It opens in steps with 2 small drawers with decorative bronze handles and encrusted with brass thread frames. Below, it opens with a single drawer occupying the entire width inlaid with brass and lockable. The interior of this drawer is embellished with a sliding cover, separating the drawer into 2 parts. All drawer interiors are veneered in Mahogany. The sides are also inlaid with brass nets and the low crosspieces are cut into turbulent shapes and lined with bronze galleries. It rests on 4 curved and tapered legs, decorated with falls, nets and bronze clogs.
Period: Mid-nineteenth century.
Perfect condition after restoration, stripping and blackened and varnished finish on a hard bottom in our workshop.
