"View Of Bayonne, Enhanced Engraving By Louis Garneray, 19th."
Engraving enhanced with gouache representing the city of Bayonne and the river Adour. The great interest is that it was engraved by Garneray (1783-1857) and enhanced by his hand as evidenced by the inscription in pencil at the bottom of the plate: "painted, engraved and retouched by Louis Garneray Bayone". Stretched on an original cardboard it is yellowed and slightly pitted. The pitchpin frame is original. Despite this, the tones and the delicacy of the highlights show the great talent of L. Garneray as an artist and painter. Period first half 19th.
