"Early 19th Century Engraved And Cut Glass With Allegory. "
An exceptional engraved and cut glass on flared foot depicting on one side a circular temple on four Corinthian column with the inscription: " For friendship ". Because of its circular shape, it calls back the temple of Vesta from Roman Forum. In the center, a fire pot maintaining the flame of love an friendship rests on a temple flanked by plants. On the other side, a woman knelt down, dressed "à l'antique" writes on the trunk of a tree the initials " R Z " belonging probably to the person which the glass is made for. Behind her, a seated dog - symbol of loyalty.
