"Water Jar, Calligraphy And Acanthus Decoration, Rajasthan, North-east India, Rare Model"
Rare 18th / 19th century model of a water jar from Rajasthan, a type of object normally found, of great simplicity in India. Our model is exuberant with engraved and gilded calligraphy on the base of the collar, engraved with stylized acanthus leaves in an oriental manner, and engraved with sixteen calligraphies between each leaf. An object of rare elegance, heavy and dense, with an exceptional patina of time, a masterpiece of Islamic art.
Placed on a thin base, this jar made of riveted and hot-glued steel sheets is smooth and does not reveal anything of the brutalism of its manufacture and its less elaborate contemporaries.
Dimensions: Height: 32 cm diameter: 36 cm neck opening: 13.5 cm weight more than 5 kg
