"Marble Bolster Sheath, Louis XVI Style - Late 19th Century"
Beautiful sea green marble wall sheath decorated with bronzes. This sheath is topped with an overflowing marble top embellished on the front and sides with a large bronze molding scalloped with chiseled foliage. Below, we find a large headband in sculpted bronze representing cornucopias, flowers accompanied by foliage, arrows and a torch. In the lower part, a large barrel tapering downwards is decorated with a vertical bronze element depicting ribbons, a shell accompanied by scrolls and numerous musical instruments. The whole rests on an offset base compensated by a large bronze molding. This breast-high sheath will undoubtedly be noticed for the beauty of its marble and bronzes. Faithful to its traditional function, it can act as a harness for a decorative object, or be installed in a vestibule, as an empty pocket.
