GIONO (Jean) - Angelo. The Hussar on the roof. Paris, Gallimard, 1965; in-4, 579 pp., publisher's cardboard, after the model of Hollenstein. Numbered copy. Of Italian origin, Jean Giono was born in Manosque. He fought in the First World War and came out disgusted by this butchery. Much of his work is inspired by the world of Provençal peasants. He also takes a stand for pacifism. Illustrations by Roland Oudot and Yves Brayer. Very good state.
